my instructor is trying to kill me....
this last two weeks seemingly keeps to be getting worse.

For the first time in FIVE YEARS i don't have a final on Friday, my last final is on Wednesday, that means i could in theory high tail it outta here on Thursday morning, and enjoy the beginning of winter break before everyone else....

turns out the joke is on me

My INSTRUCTOR has once again changed a deadline, pushed it back till FRIDAY OF FINALS WEEK. And there is no escaping this deadline, because there is a reception that follows it on Friday afternoon..... which makes me wonder....is she nuts? NO ONE IS GOING TO BE ON CAMPUS WHO ALREADY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE. And why would they come to a reception for a project that everyone in the class already hates?

does she honestly think that we choose to spend our "free-time" inside of Seaton Hall...... the madness must stop and when it does on Friday the 15th of December i will be the happiest person you know. And that is a fact...a fact.

Next Semester will be filled with great work and truly amazing learning...nothing of which i had this semester, probably a good sign that new professors should not teach 5th year students....

this sketch has nothing to do with anything ....

Growing older somehow snuck up on me the other day. It all started on Monday afternoon. Shauni was doing crits for a random studio, so our studio was left to be productive on our own. As i was working on my water coloring [ doesn't sound too productive does it..no worries it wasn't] Professor McNamara visited me at my drafting desk.

Now i had professor McNamara for one semester last year during our big construction document phase, so naturally i thought he was stopping by to say hello. However he instead asked me to serve as a critic for his second year students who working on designing a home for Ms. Uruguay.

With a little hesitation i agreed to crit for the second half of the studio. Luckily it wasn't just me, but also a friend of mine in studio was asked to do crits as well. After McNamara left, Troy and I began to talk about how weird it was to be on the other side of the fence. To have to listen to a student talk about their work and try to follow long as they explain.

When Wednesday arrived i found my way to the crit room and stood their awkwardly in front of the class as McNamara introduced me to what seemed to be a sea of youngsters. Suddenly my interpretation of people only three-four years younger became this amazement at how IT bitty they looked. So young, bright eyed and little. It was amazing to see how much energy they had how much excitement and enthusiasm they had for their designs.
I soon flashed back to when i was a second year and how i was the same way. Everything was exciting and everything was brilliant, i thought i was clever.... my how things have changed. I had so much energy for school, i couldn't wait for the upcoming years. Now i think to myself do i have the energy to go through that again? Hardly. Don't get me wrong school is ok and i enjoy architecture, i love to draw, to think and create, i love the challenge but i am ready to get paid for it.

Troy and i did our best to give our advice and show our design skills by offering up some great advice. Despite the fact we ran a little dry on some of the projects, but hey it happens. I think overall those kids did a great job on their presentations, and i am so glad that they didn't seem intimidated by either troy or me. i guess that means that we don't seem all that old or full of great and powerful wisdom.

i am a nerd...
the current history class i am taking is an in depth look at modern European architecture, which means that i pretty much am kicking myself for not taking this class BEFORE i went to Europe. For this class we were all assigned architects to research and give oral presentations covering some of their most important works of Architecture. While i was researching one of Hans Holleins buildings i came across some really great images of that particular structure. As i looked closer i saw there in the background a very familiar looking structure, a cathedral in the heart of Vienna [Wein as Austrians say]. I hurriedly went straight to my study abroad photos and the file folder labeled "Vienna". Racing through images of baroque and Weinner Werkstatte buildings led to my discovery. My clicking stopped right on the images of the cathedral and not one image after the cathedral was the modern architecture created by the same guy who i am currently researching. Without knowing it i had snapped some photos of what i thought was just some interesting modern architecture, but as it turns out a famous piece of architecture. I can't say that i am a huge fan of holleins work, however this piece is pretty neat in its intentions to be a physical hinge of the city. Now i am kicking myself for not going in and not taking more pictures i could have used for this presentation. i have to say i was pretty excited, not gonna lie.

Guess that means i am going back to Vienna.
