i am a nerd...
the current history class i am taking is an in depth look at modern European architecture, which means that i pretty much am kicking myself for not taking this class BEFORE i went to Europe. For this class we were all assigned architects to research and give oral presentations covering some of their most important works of Architecture. While i was researching one of Hans Holleins buildings i came across some really great images of that particular structure. As i looked closer i saw there in the background a very familiar looking structure, a cathedral in the heart of Vienna [Wein as Austrians say]. I hurriedly went straight to my study abroad photos and the file folder labeled "Vienna". Racing through images of baroque and Weinner Werkstatte buildings led to my discovery. My clicking stopped right on the images of the cathedral and not one image after the cathedral was the modern architecture created by the same guy who i am currently researching. Without knowing it i had snapped some photos of what i thought was just some interesting modern architecture, but as it turns out a famous piece of architecture. I can't say that i am a huge fan of holleins work, however this piece is pretty neat in its intentions to be a physical hinge of the city. Now i am kicking myself for not going in and not taking more pictures i could have used for this presentation. i have to say i was pretty excited, not gonna lie.

Guess that means i am going back to Vienna.
